Role Description: 
 
The Training and Development Manager, based in Waterloo, Ontario, is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating training programs that support spiritual growth, leadership development, volunteer engagement, and staff effectiveness within the New Apostolic Church Canada. This role ensures that all training initiatives are grounded in Church doctrine and aligned with its vision and mission. 
This role serves a broad and diverse audience, including ministers and leaders, youth and children, volunteers and members, ensuring that training efforts are relevant, Christ-centred, and spiritually enriching across all age groups and roles. 
Working closely with content specialists, subject matter experts and church leaders, the Training and Development Manager will oversee the development of curriculum, teaching methods, and learning resources tailored for a variety of audiences and formats, including in-person sessions, online modules, mentoring frameworks, and blended learning environments. 
A focus of this role is the support of a national network of trainers and facilitators. This includes equipping and mentoring individuals across the Church to deliver consistent, high-quality training in their local contexts, as well as collaborating with international partners to extend training strategies beyond Canada. 
This position requires a passion for personal and spiritual development, strong leadership skills, and a strategic mindset. Occasional travel is required to support regional initiatives, facilitate face-to-face training, and strengthen relationships with leaders and trainers across the country. 
 
 
Duties and Responsibilities: 
  
  • Create and Deliver Training Content:Create engaging, doctrine-based training materials for national and international audiences using a blend of digital learning, workshops, mentoring, and coaching. 
  • Assess Training Needs:Evaluate training needs across the Church in Canada through collaboration with leadership and analysis of goals. 
  • Lead Orientation & Onboarding: Design and facilitate orientation programs that prepare new ministers and volunteers for their roles. 
  • Evaluate Training Outcomes: Measure the effectiveness of training programs using feedback, metrics, and assessments, refining programs accordingly. 
  • Collaborate Across Canada: Partner with leaders throughout the country to ensure training is relevant, impactful, and aligned with local and national goals. 
  • Support a National and International Network: Identify, equip, and support a network of trainers and facilitators across Canada and in collaboration with international partners to scale training efforts and ensure consistency across regions. 
  • Foster a Culture of Continuous Learning: Promote ongoing learning opportunities that support spiritual growth and development across all levels of leaders and members. 
  • Stay Informed on Trends: Remain current on national training best practices and integrate innovative methods and technologies to enhance learning outcomes. 
  • Support National Reach: Be available to travel across Canada as needed to deliver in-person training, build relationships with local teams, and assess regional needs. 
  • Extend Global Reach: Ensure that training content can be adapted for international use, supporting the Church’s mission beyond Canada and working with global stakeholders and resources.

Qualifications: 
 
  • An ordained minister with strong commitment to the beliefs and practices of the New Apostolic Church, with a deep understanding of its doctrine, vision and mission. 
  • Master’s degree in Education, or a related field. 
  • Formal training in theology is an asset. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in adult learning with a track record of designing and executing successful training programs. 
  • Skilled in curriculum development and varied teaching methodologies, including in-person, online learning, mentorship, workshops, and simulations. 
  • Proficiency with a variety of teaching tools and platforms, such as Learning Management Systems, virtual meeting software, e-learning content creators, and assessment tools. 
  • A heart for spiritual growth and the ability to lead, train and encourage individuals across all ages and stages of life. 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Management experience overseeing professional staff is an asset. 
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate individuals and teams. 
  • Flexible and adaptable to the evolving needs of a dynamic and faith-driven organization. 
  • Strong writing and documentation abilities for training material development and reporting. 
  • Confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information, maintaining trust and respect within the organization. 
  • Fluency in French is an asset.
